I have a female friend from high school that I occasionally talk to from time to time. When I was young and dumb in high school, I fell in love with her, took the nice guy route, and she ended up using me as a skipping stone to talk to my friend who was much more athletic and all around better than me who she started fucking. Young stupid me, but anyways.

Years later she contacts me on a friend level, she still lives in our home town, I live now live on the exact opposite side of the country. She has married someone, and I eventually get to meet them on one of my visits home to see family. Really nice guy, but unfortunately a total doormat. She has a very flirty personality and I knew from day one she was going to walk all over him.

Our conversation is limited to the occasional text once in a while, she pushed on me a few times asking if she could come visit me but persisted that her husband couldn't come because he didn't have any vacation time available. I had no interest and continued to tell her no, eventually the conversations fizzled back to occasional BS.

Recently, she texts me that she is going on a business trip to a different state and wanted to send me some pictures of her trip, sure whatever. Usual "wives out of town business trip" pictures flood into my inbox. Her and her female co-workers at various bars throughout the trip, surrounded by guys that aren't their husbands, and just having carefree fun.

She sends me a text about how she's disappointed in her co-workers all sleeping with random guys when they are married and have children at home. She told me she's better than that and will always remain faithful because her husband is sexy and she loves him.

Cue about 6 hours later, it is about 3AM my time, 4AM where she is at, my phone starts ringing. I didn't check who was calling, just answered assuming my roommate was in trouble or something was going on. It's her. She's piss drunk rambling about how she's leaving some guys room but she promises me that nothing happened, she got very detailed about how nothing happened. She said "I didn't kiss him, we didn't take our clothes off, we didn't have sex, nothing happened. I am not sure why I feel guilty because nothing happened". I let her drunkenly ramble for a few minutes before I told her I had to go back to sleep.

Now the next morning, she calls me at work. She explains to me that nothing happened the night before and not to tell her husband anything because nothing went wrong. I let her give her couple minute speech to me before getting back to work, but knew the reason for the call. She was using me to judge what my reaction would be to see if she needs to better mold her story to be more believable.

Never once in my entire life has a man told me that getting married was a good decision. You see nasty divorces happen everyday, yet men still tie that knot like it means anything other than she gets alimony and most of your possessions when the break up happens. I saw it happen to my own family when my parents got divorced. This is just one example of many.
