Looking for general advice on the topic. I directly report to a male (manager) , who reports to a female (vp). As you may imagine I have frequent interactions with her, small talk and actual work related updates etc.

My problem is that I seem to get the vibe on occasion that she doesn't have high regard for me or my abilities as it relates to my position. I am pretty good at what I do and have the respect of my manager and colleagues.

Sometimes its the opposite and I think I'm in good standing. It's ever changing. I don't like to bend over backwards to do something for her without questioning the need for it or trying to validate the actual value in what has been requested of me. I find she can direct people to be inefficient often.

There is a good chance I'm over analyzing and she has no issue with me. Doesn't really matter now, I want to apply some RP to my behavior in the workplace to increase my perceived value.

Any suggestions are welcomed.
