I do online dating and get a lot of matches, but they don't seem to go anywhere.

This is what the "fizzle" looks like from a woman's perspective. From the man's perspective, the woman is putting very little effort into the interaction; she waits a long time to respond to messages; her responses are just one or two words; she cancels dates at the last minute etc.

Significantly, the woman is often unaware that SHE is the one who is sabotaging the interaction. She is unaware of the actual problem: That she doesn't find the man physically attractive due to him being in the bottom 80% of looks. Since she doesn't want to see herself as shallow and unreasonable, her brain comes up with rationalizations and explanations for the relationship failure which absolve her of responsibility.

I think men need to be aware of this when engaging with women. It seems after the fizzle, guys often wonder if they screwed up somehow. If they had waited an extra 4 hours to send that text message. Or if they had proposed a date at a coffee shop instead of a bar. But most of the time, the guy never had a chance.
