The primary problem is how much women have devalued sexual intimacy by giving it away so freely as to diminish its value to near nothing. Of course guys do not want to commit to a woman who has had a large number of sexual partners. This does not change much whether a guy has had many or few partners himself, it is simply instinct. Any guy who hears the answer "I prefer not to say" should take that as a clue to mean "way too many."

Personally, I would not have been satisfied with an answer that was "only a few," as this does not indicate the practices of restraint and desire for commitment, but rather that the number of opportunities has not reached that level yet while having no genuine aversion to premarital sex. As we saw with this example, it was only a matter of time before it was definitely not "only a few," so the low number was not a reflection of restraint in the slightest. Call me whatever you will, but I do not agree with the outlook that "only a few" partners is acceptable when considering commitment, since almost every excuse has been used to justify things, such as "We were in love!" or "I thought I loved him," as if that absolves the act as being any better. If those statements were true, why is the relationship no more? Did you select a man you easily fell out of love with, or was your selection criteria not suitable for determining if he was really someone you should have loved (whether "he changed" or he dumped you)?

I bring up the example "We were in love!" as it perfectly characterizes the attitudes of chivalry, a topic discussed in depth by Dalrock:

"Where Christianity teaches that sex outside of marriage is sinful and shameful, chivalry teaches that it is more noble than married sex so long as it is sanctified by romantic love.".

So any woman can claim to "love" as many men as possible and believe that it does not contradict her supposed love for the man in her current relationship. That does not wash with me in terms of showing real love, as it is giving away the gift that is supposed to be exclusive. I am thankful that I was able to find a woman who had the same outlook as me regarding waiting until marriage, but I know that is rare these days, especially with the morality of chivalry that states that romantic "love" is what makes sex permissible. Not that this woman in the OP was demonstrating that, but I would not be surprised if she had thought that way at least early on.
