I see a lot of the same men at the gym and, being one of very few women in the weight room (and a serious lifter) I figured it was only a matter of time before I got noticed.

Last night a guy that has been pretty obvious in eyeing me up approached me and introduced himself. After a bit of obligatory banal chit chat we went on with our business, but I spent the rest of my time trying to avoid him because I was afraid he may ask me out.

I realize full well he may just have wanted to connect with me (as serious lifters tend to stick together) but I also want to be prepared if he or someone else does want to make a move.

I'm not attracted to this man in the least and I've just recently gotten divorced so I'm really not too keen on getting involved with anyone right now.

What is the safest way to say thanks but no thanks using the FDS principles? I could lie and say I'm not single but I shouldn't have to use another man as an excuse to not be interested. On the other hand if I'm honest about my situation I'm afraid a guy I wouldn't be interested in no matter what make take that as "sure but not right now" and keep pursuing me. If I had a third hand I'd simply say "No thank you" and leave it at that (because I shouldn't have to give a reason) but we all know how that goes.
