Should the man and woman split bills 50/50 when they live together? Or should the man pay slightly more, especially if he earns more? Or the person doing more household chores pay significantly less? Right now I'm living with a LVM (I'm mentally checked out) and we split all bills 50/50, even though I do more around the house.

Things I do that he doesn't: general tidy of the house like mopping, do laundry but not his, only mine and towels and bedding, change bedding, take out rubbish, vacuum, clean the bathroom etc). Things he does: wash up after himself in the kitchen, do his own laundry, and he neglects both. His job is to clean up after himself and he still FAILS. If I want him to do a chore I have to keep asking and asking, so sometimes I'd rather be hassle free and do it myself. I don't clean up after him, just do general tidy up around the house, but I do significantly more. If I didn't the house would be a mess as he barely cleans, and I hate being in a messy environment.

I am also studying and working part time and he is working full time. He earns 4x more than me. We do seperate food shops, and if he buys me things from the shops when he goes, he asks for the money back.

I feel that it is unfair that I do more around the house, I earn less, and we split everything 50/50. On top of that, in our 5 year relationship, we haven't been on any dates in the last two years, so he hasn't spent absolutely any money on me in the last two years.

I realise he is a LVM and I am not planning to stay with him. But we are currently still living together.

But my question is, for future dating, when living with a man, what is the FDS view on splitting bills?
