Don't go to chain restaurants, that's tacky. Find something unique and local that's nice, with high quality food and a good atmosphere.

If you like italian, than find an authentic italian restaurant.

First up, asking people out at work is a dangerous space to be playing in, so heads up there. If the genie is already out of the bottle, though, the advice you've already gotten about avoiding chain restaurants is spot on. Look for locally run with something interesting about it. Where you take her is a reflection of your interest in her, what you have to offer her and what you think she's worth - and a more unique location creates an interesting shared experience to discuss.
