I am huge on gift giving/acts of service. Anything that shows I'm thinking of the person I love doing because it makes me happy to see them happy. I do it for my family, friends, and partner. The problem is, I love it being shown to me, too. Well, not a problem lol but my partner doesn't show it as much as I would like to feel properly loved. Our relationship is pretty perfect in every other way, he's my best friend, so I feel I should be able to overlook this but it can be really hurtful.

If he has a bad or stressful day, I'll cook him a meal or dessert he loves. I'll leave random little notes in his bag or phone for him. I'll plug his phone in for him because I know the battery is low after coming over from using it for work. Etc.

We don't live together. So the moment he leaves his job he runs right over to me. He almost never goes to stores alone, so he says that's why he never picks stuff up that reminds him of me like I do. I get that. And he used to work by a bakery, though, so he did randomly get me my favorite pastries. He got me a tamagotchi by surprise after I freaked out over a new version coming back as I never had one as a child. But the past year, it's really slowed down. If I point out something I like, he will tell me hey here's my card put it on that. But that isn't how I want it.

I also see men send random flowers to their SO, get them gifts such as books randomly, plan whole weekend getaways or vacations. I know he would do those no questions asked if I told him to do so, but I shouldn't ask for every thing. He knows me, so why do I get anxiety about expecting him to do such things even small ones at this point. Its really putting a strain on our relationship but that I don't want to end but I'm thinking of being a dealbreaker.

So the question is am I being reasonable? Should I be grateful for the times he DOES show me he thinks of me as occasional as they can be, seeing as everything else is fine, or am I right in expecting more? Can people make themselves be like that?
