I’m really new to FDS and I’m trying to apply everything I’ve learned in the handbook to my life, especially when it comes to dating. I’m not so good at navigating through conversations and integrating important screening questions (relationship status/history, intentions, ideologies, etc). It’s either I’m in my head too much and feel like I’m in an interview or I let whoever I’m on the date with take the lead and see where things go.

I’m typically a very blunt person, but my confidence has definitely taken a hit lately so I’ve become less assertive as I used to. I also feel as though I get some negative reactions when I ask my screening questions so it deters me a bit from asking them. Whenever I do ask these questions, I kinda just blurt them out abruptly so it’s possible that it might be the reason (or could be a sign of a LVM idk).

How do I naturally shift the conversation to ask my screening questions? At what point during the prescreening interview or date should I ask them?
