A couple weeks ago I went out for drinks (I know, I know) with this dude from bumble. He seemed alright but then he asked me if I usually date older men since he’s 34 and I’m 26, then he said he usually dates 24-26 yr olds since it seems more natural for him. Then he said “well since you’re 26 I’ll be leaving now” and started laughing and said he’s just joking. then the bill came and he showed me it and said “wow, that’s why I love coming to this lounge, it’s so cheap!”. He never pulled out my chair, complimented me, and we were downtown and he never offered to walk me to my car. Our city went into a lockdown shortly after so he said there’s not much we can do besides go for a drive in the countryside. He picked me up and took me to the cheapest coffee shop and he drove around and talked about how the type of girls that like him he’s not sexually attracted to. And he got a phone call from another girl while I was there. I just got a kitten, so earlier this week I decided to let him come over to my condo (that I bought this year) to see her. He sat down on the couch and he talked about how he lives in a rough area of town to save rent and that he was approved a mortgage but he still can’t afford to buy. And that my place is much nicer and bigger than his. and that his brother is much more successful then him because he’s made better choices then him. He abruptly left after an hour and said “I’ll see you this weekend” and he hasn’t texted me since. I’m brand new to this city, only lived here 3 months and don’t know anyone and because of the lockdown I was feeling a little lonely. I know I shouldn’t have invited him over. I wonder what I did wrong though. I made it clear that I wasn’t looking for a hook up, or maybe he was intimidated by the fact that I’m younger him and bought a condo. It’s so weird, he texted me all the time. How can I value myself and not make decisions out of loneliness?
