So I have a friend whose best friend K (19F) was dating this man I’ll call R (28M) until December. We all used to work in the same venue.
Of course when I first found out they were together, I immediately clocked the age gap and was concerned, but there was not much to be done about it, they lived together. Anytime I was around K, she would complain about R and what a sh*tty boyfriend he was.
Well, at the end of December R cheated on her to exactly no one’s surprise, and they broke up though she was wanting to just talk through it 😒 The woman he cheated with told my friend that he had gotten aggressive (choked her, which I didn’t know until today) and so she didn’t sleep with him, though he went around telling everyone she did.
I found out today from a different friend that R shoved her three times during a party I’d had at my place. He was drinking and so she brushed it off and didn’t tell me until today (the party was almost two months ago).
I’m f*cking livid. The cheating and being aggressive was bad enough, but the fact that he physically assaulted one of my good friends has put me over the edge. My workplace is very much a boy’s club, it’s a small business run by the owner and his two sons in positions of power. These are men I very much expect to (and have seen) stand up for R (who is longtime friends with one of the sons). Right now, R works at a different location and occasionally comes in to take product from the main location where I work.
I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to move forward knowing that this guy (who has an extremely well crafted mask) is a fcking abusive sshole. Ladies, I would love to hear what y’all would do in this situation.
