outside of invites and logistics there's only one thing i text people for, and it's the only other reason i appreciate them texting me: it's when i read something, hear something, or see something that, based on what i know about them, they will find interesting, funny, or infuriating

for example: my wife texted me today around noon laughing about how my 4 year old has picked up my swearing, and has also started telling his friends there's no god. no way i'm ignoring that shit. we had a great conversation and laugh about it. pure gold for our relationship and an actual good time for me

on the contrary, i have this friend who doesn't quite understand this. he will text me out of the blue and ask me how i'm doing, just to like...check in. irritates the fuck out of me

now, the "texting is for logistics" advice is great for plates and potential plates because, frankly, you shouldn't know them well enough to know what kind of shit they'll think is interesting or funny. if you're at that point you probably have yourself a girlfriend

but with a wife i think sharing things with her you know she'll appreciate (as they come up in your day to day naturally--don't go looking for them like some kind of needy connection robot), and talking dirty now and then have worked really well for me

The reason we say text is for logistics only is that

Idiots get into drawn out arguments with their wives over text
Idiots play ping pong the whole fucking day. Text back and forth the whole damn time. How is your time valuable if you can text the whole time?
Idiots respond to texts instantly, ie they respond to external inputs, no frame.
Idiots share feeeeelz.
Idiots avail themselves 24/7 to whatever demands.
Idiots ask for nudes.
Idiots misinterpret messages and get butthurt.

Where text game works

Plates. Building sexual tension before meeting up. Difficult with wives as you are seeing each other tonight, regardless of what twist and turns your life is taking today.
Limiting your time online. Open up your text browser when taking a break having a coffee. Catch up, touch base or whatever you want to call it and close the app. However, don't become predictable.
Being a little mysterious. Playing a little game. Don't stake anything in the game, total IO. Remember her battery is going to die and she is not going to answer or she will stop playing the little game because of whatever reason. Butthurt is detectable even over text.

The most important things are to keep her guessing, don't overthink it, and do it even when you know sex is off the table.

As for specifics, get creative. Tell her to take her panties off and then demand proof. Tell her what you're going to do to her. Role play and tell her that your wife is away for the night and that you have something for her. My wife works in a restaurant, so I'll tell her that I'm only putting out if she brings me dinner.

If she works with a lot of other women, you can use that to your benefit. Whatever, anyone under 40 is all over it, and for good reason. My whole FB and IG feed is classic cars, surfing and college girls - - I am not posting selfies and cyber bullying the local shopkeeper., or complaining about roadworks.

OP to compare notes and not just follow the herd. I’m in a similar position to you where we both work often long hours. I game my wife frequently via text, it’s just an extension of our in person flirting. We rarely have miscommunications via text. I can see this is not the case for every one.

Why I text her is for exactly what you suspect in your question. I want her thinking of me and sex early and frequently during the day. I can’t wait till I walk in the door at 10. I have found with my wife that I need to state my OI desire early and boldly. I missed this for years, and it has been like a set of keys to her box.

I occasionally try to get her close to calling me some version of an asshole due to my vivid tasteful imagery. I want her to know I’m thinking about her and sex.

I saw something by a Emily Nagoski that guys are turned on by visual imagery, I’m pretty much good to go if my girl gets naked and bounces up and down (nothing new here). Women, however react to explicitly sexual situations and it can take a bit of simmering to reach the threshold of desire. Aspects of this have been demonstrated in labs during studies of female arousal. It was an ah hah moment for me. Hence starting early in the day and boldly. I never expect her to initiate or have random desire, I need to put the idea in her mind, Texting is a convenient way to do it. Definitely need to be OI. I do believe OI with a text should be easier than in person.

If the text is nsfw I send them in an invisible text, and she knows it will be explicit and never fails to open it.

Texting is for logistics. You'll find this statement all over MRP and I've yet to see any solid evidence to the contrary that would provide a good reason to ignore this.

However. I would also argue it can be used for game if you have the confidence and experience to do so. But if you're asking this question I wouldn't recommend trying it. Generally in a LTR there's little value to be had attempting this.
