The basic premise is to avoid any overt discussions and set an implied covert frame on how you want to conduct your relationship. Girls are very, very, supremely good at picking up your actions and hints around abundance and intolerance towards drama. Set an early frame in your relationships and girls will typically adhere to that frame. It's amazing what you can accomplish by not talking too much, and being precise with your actions.

Plate theory is not about who you're having sex with; it's about who you could have sex with if you wanted to. It exists to give you an abundance mentality if you don't already have one. If you already have an abundance mentality and can maintain it in full confidence with only your LTR, you don't need plates.

So, maybe there's a secretary at work who's never noticed you. You start improving your performance, showing off your alpha, wearing better fitting suits to work, and now she's showing IOIs. For me, it stops there. I know that if I wanted to I could add game and she'd be on me - but I don't need that temptation to cheat.

Other guys would add gaming her, maybe go out to coffee or lunch a few times or something. They do that because they need to prove to themselves that the IOIs were real and not them fantasizing. For me, I don't need that validation. So, I don't take this step and avoid the temptation to cheat. Some guys would go all the way and actually cheat - that's their choice.

I do the same thing at the gym. I chat with the girls there in a non-creepy way. It starts with, [Expected intro] "Hey, mind if I grab that weight over there?" --> [Transition with context] "It gets crowded in here, doesn't it?" --> [Conversation start] "I guess it's nice when it's mostly people you see regularly; get to know who you're working out with. You meet many other people here?" Of course she hasn't. Most of the guys at the gym are alpha-wannabes who wouldn't dare approach her. [Note: between each phase, she gives a response, but it doesn't matter what the response is.] After this short process, I walk away to work out in a different area of the gym without actually starting a conversation. About 40% of the time she'll migrate over 5 minutes later and initiate a conversation with me. I'll be friendly, but give no further IOIs. Why? Because I don't want to be tempted to cheat on my wife. I just do nominal stuff like that to keep reminding myself that if my wife did cheat or leave me, I'd be fine.

To that end, some people could say I'm plating - I put a plate up on the pole and give it one good spin, then walk away and never look back. But plate theory is more about keeping those plates spinning, not just seeing if you could get it to balance in the first place. That's where I draw the line in my own personal life. If you need to keep 3 plates other than your wife spinning to have your abundance mentality, some guys need that. If you can keep your abundance mentality just by knowing you could plate if you wanted to (where I'm at), then test the waters and stop. If you can keep an abundance mentality without ever seeing an IOI outside your marriage, then do that. As /u/GargantuaBlarg29 said, if it helps, do it; if not, don't.

Do not consume your thoughts with plates at this moment, you are a thirsty man. Any plates you spin now will be seeking validation, not a sexual strategy.

Improve yourself first to the point where your SO has had the chance to catch up with you before moving on to plates. She has the first shot at pleasing the new you. If plates can be avoided, even better.

You will have to figure that out on your own. Every relationship is different. Many women will leave if you "cheat." Many won't. Look for the search term on MRP and TRP for "Plates" and "Nonmonogamy" and "cheating."

What you said about trust is true.

If you end up spinning plates, you can do it openly or in secret, depending on your situation.

If you're this new to the red pill, then I'd postpone any thoughts on it until you have your head on straight. This is one of the issues that make LTR and marriage "red pill on hard mode." I don't spin plates because it wouldn't enhance my life to do so. Pussy is pussy, and, for me, LTR sex is the best sex.
