Just over 6 months ago, I stumbled upon askMRP and realised how much of a beta I was - mind you if you were to ask me at the time I would've told you that I acted alpha. I started making slow changes, made a few posts here and there gloating about my results, quickly got shut down for posting some low quality shit and learnt from my mistakes (thanks guys). I've made changes to my relationship and have never felt better. However, I still realise how far I have to still come in this journey.

My only issue has been work. I'm a health care provider who works in a small business and 5 years ago we secured a "contract" for a football (soccer) club providing care on the weekends and training. At the time I was young and impressionable and got forced into doing it under the promise that once I had graduated university I would have complete control over the whole thing. Fast forward 5 years, I have done it every weekend, ended up loving the job and put in over 1500 hours of work to keep and secure this contract. The club loves and respects me but I still fall under my boss despite him doing nothing at all in 5 years. This past week I decided to confront him over this issue and asked that I be handed over control as promised. He refused, called me egotistical and selfish and said I have to keep doing it regardless.

I told him my terms, said I'm more than happy to do it however they must be met and have officially "resigned" from the weekend work next year.

Could I have handled it better? If so how?

And do you guys have any recommendations for how I proceed going forward?
