Hi all,

This might become a long post but I'll try to keep it concise.

So a year and a half ago I (23/M) moved to a new city to study. I found a great flat, sharing it with a guy and a girl. The girl, slightly older than me, is an ex-model and by most men's standards a 10/10. Right away I knew I had pretty much no chance with her but I was fine with it. I'm a decent looking guy, I work out 5 times a week, I have a solid education and I've been with plenty of girls before. However, none of my relationships have been serious because I've been focusing on my studies (currently a PhD student).

So from the time I met this girl I was fine with just being roommates but things changed very quickly. Me and her ended up spending most of our time together (when we were not at uni that is), went out all the time and went travelling together. But all this time I was fine with being friendzoned because I have no problem in admitting that she is out of my league and I'm not sure if she is my type. But there was always a small part of me that thought that MAYBE she was into me.

But then I met this other girl at uni and we started hanging out a bit and things with my roommate changed for the worse. Sometimes she was saying that she was so happy for me and that I definitely should sleep with this new girl but all of a sudden she'd say things like "I don't understand how she could like you" and "you're not even that good looking". Obviously I was quite upset and kind of just stopped talking to my roommate. And then she'd start crying and saying that she was just joking and that she never meant those things.

Normally I think of myself as a logical person but around this girl I just can't seem to think straight. I'm just not used to having a 10/10 girl showing interest in me. But anyways, now to my problem... I simply don't know how to deal with my roommate after she said those things. A part of me wants to forget her and move out of the flat as soon as my contract ends. But after all, she has been my closest friend in the new city. And overall I don't think that she's a bad person but she's just too focused on people's looks. My problem isn't that she's not attracted to me, it's more the things she said about me. I don't understand if she is just using me or if she just has a messed up sense of humour.

So what do you guys think I should do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
