lol Most definitely , I used to consider the lyrics abusive yet still loved it now I realize that for the most part they are just speaking the truth . They never chase women and the women keep coming , they know that women don't want them themselves they want the fame , money, cars , and clothes they can get for being with a rapper. More than anything any song that points out the loyal mark waiting for his wife to get home once she's finished with the rapper is the biggest fool of all .

I used to enjoy rap / hiphop because it was a power fantasy now they are actually speaking to me .

Rap is essentially what feminists refer to as "toxic masculinity". Toxic masculinity saved my life.

Toxic masculinity is the idea that you as a man will be bullied and shit on if you're a pussy little faggot. It's the idea that to the victor go the spoils, and the spoils include pussy and money. It's an acknowledgement of the inherently unfair nature of life, and that's why people are trying to demonize toxic masculinity. A lot of my good friends are latino and it's the same thing - machismo is so important because it's real, the world will treat you like a bitch boy if you aren't hard, masculine, and strong. Rap is basically saying "reality does suck, and here's what winners and losers actually look like in this fucked up world." Which sounds a lot like our sales pitch.

Rap / HH is has a lot of poppy weak shit, but most of the west coast shit is free of bullshit.

In terms of RP, you haven't even broken into RP rap music until you sat your ass down with some OG bay area rap, or classic LA shit. Too Short & E-40 for life.

Ice Cube's I Ain't Tha 1 is the ultimate anti-beta bucks song. I still play that shit and crack up, it's a perfect crystallization of the mentality you need to have.

Young dudes today are decent, but rap has gone way too mainstream to ever really have RP artists like in the past. You're never going to get a verse like this again:

Depends where you were raised. I grew up in the projects in a not so friendly neighbourhood so naturally the people who i was surrounded by listened to rap as so did i. It becomes a part of you. And I've learned valuable lessons.

Not really. Not because it denigrates women or any such bullshit like that, but because it glamorizes an idiotic lifestyle that leads to ruin for 99% of the people engaged in it.

Some black guy in TRP had a comment along the lines of the reason that black culture in America is so fucked up, where the overwhelming public examples of black men are guys like rap stars, is because black culture is heavily female dominated.
