This question stems from the new sidebar content, the one about pride and not giving a fuck. Basically, I realized that I do anything to refrain from starting something, even if I love and/or enjoy it. It happens with everything (even fucking video games). I get really into it, then I feel like the stakes are too high, the pressure to do well is too high, and I just don't continue it. I think it comes from the same "pride" talked about in the post: I have maladaptive daydreams about doing well (nice car etc) and I realize that they are just a way for me to receive fantasy validation, which I apparently do everything for. So therefore, rather than starting something and possibly risking the chance of losing what I have (ie. Drawing something amazing, never finishing and never drawing again because I could screw it up) I would rather just not do it. Because of this, I have to force myself do things even if I enjoy them, which is absurd now that I type it out. I don't know how to change my beliefs to end this nonsense.

Tldr; things eventually become too high stakes for me, at which point I just quit with the rationale of retaining the little skill that I have achieved. I can enjoy lifting, until it starts to get so important to me that I care too much to go to the gym, because I could fail. Don't know how to fix it, constructive help appreciated.
