I'm having a hard time taking anybody seriously anymore. I had issues with my father abusing me in the past. But, what is done is done. I can't change the past and I must focus on making myself better for the future.

However, I have this problem with authority, where because people are in positions of authority they think they can just order me around without justification. I personally don't believe this. I believe that if you are in a position of authority, you have even more responsibility than someone below you, and must prove your superior standing on a moments notice.

I don't see this in most authority figures. They have this sort of irrational confidence in themselves, and it is really demoralizing to be around them.

I'm reading the book 1776 about the American revolution, where George Washington is quoted in his letters to one of his colonels as saying "Be easy and condescending in your deportment to your officers, but not too familiar, lest you subject yourself to a want of that respect which is necessary to support a proper command." This quote struck a chord with me. However, I don't see any of my superiors as legitimate superiors to me.

I think I could do their job with ease, and probably with higher efficiency if called upon but they seem to not believe this.

I'm just really frustrated with ignorant people, and I see them a lot.
