Not necessarily. I've enjoyed past LTRs and have fond memories despite them not working out in the end. LTRs can definitely help you grow as a person which is valuable.

What a shit viewpoint. Can literally be applied to anything in life. Walking across the street? Could get hit by a bus and all go to shit in a second. Swimming in the ocean? Could get bit by a shark and all go to shit in a second? If you go into life with that viewpoint you're going to be miserable. Yes always be prepared for the worst, that applies to everything in life. But don't live your life in constant fear of it.

Look, I'm not gonna sit here and say LTRs are the definitive way to go. Everyone is different and likes different things. But you're just being way too negative.

For me personally, waking up next to a woman with whom you have a genuine connection with is much preferable to slinking out of some one night stand's room at 6am or vice a versa, and I've done plenty of both. From what I've read it just sounds like you've never had a relationship that has worked out and that sucks. If you prefer plates, then go for it. But if you genuinely want a great and rewarding LTR the opportunities are out there, you just have to seize them.

This is why I’m in an OLTR. All the benefits of a relationship, but I’m seeing other plates so don’t have to worry about abundance.

The other issues you listed about waste of time and money are only present if you let her run the relationship. I put myself and my time first, never prioritize her over my family/friends, and we split everything.

Because some people are not egoistic fuck-ups and grow up to learn to manage these kind of "fears" and actually enjoy the upsides of relationships.
