Most likely it's an attempt at validation. She is hoping that your life is worse for not having her in it. She wants the ego boost. This isn't all there is to it because emotions are not so one sided or simple. She is probably wondering about a lot of things like how easily you replaced if at all, do you still think about her, she's trying to keep her options open because her recent branch swing backfired, etc.

The thing about relationships is that one of you has to lead, and the other has to follow. If the girl is leading then she feels terrible and resents her man for being weak. If the man is leading then both are happy in their roles. In order for you to lead though she needs to submit to you. Not to be forced into submission but to actually submit.

The way you get a woman to submit is to have her acknowledge that you are better than her. This is why women shit test for the most part. Its why hypergamy exists. They don't want a man that is weaker or stupider or less than, in any way, than they are. This is why women make such of big deal of beating you at something and saying things like "You got beat by a girl."

Attempting to rebuild your frame in the eyes of a woman who decided to get rid of you can be ridiculously hard. She dumped you and that means she already saw you as not worth her time. She saw you as less than her value and so she got rid of you.

My suggestion to you is to forget about her because I think you've got a case of oneitis here. She kicked you to the curb and you are reeking of desperation trying to get her back. If however you don't want to take that advice then you have to reply in a manner that shows that your life is much better now that she is gone. She has to feel she is missing out by not being a part of you.

That means you can't say shit like "I missed you" or any goofy shit like that. You have to keep your frame solid and accept no disrespect from her. If you can go into it with an I don't give a fuck attitude you might be able to get somewhere with it. Honestly though it would be a lot easier to just go meet someone new
