Not respecting other people’s interests isn’t a sign of maturity. It’s a sign of immaturity and intolerance. If you want to spend time with someone you don’t rag on what’s important to them. So yeah sometimes keeping your trap shut is the right course. Not on your principles of course

OP part of being a good conversationalist is knowing a little about a lot of subjects (movies, books, games, working out, music, politics, food, anything and everything) and another part is knowing when to listen because you either a. don't know about the subject or b. don't care about the subject but the person talking does. Keep in mind people WANT to talk about what they like, and you encouraging them to do so makes them like you more.

So don't scoff at their interests unless you're clearly teasing/poking fun at them, like if they like a really shitty band or something you can roll your eyes and be like "oh here we go you're one of THOSE" and joke with them. That's different. But if they're into Harry Potter ask them about it. Or quiz them on it. Just last night I went out with a girl and she said she liked Harry Potter. I asked her to tell me why Hagrid was expelled from Hogwarts and she couldn't (I had forgotten myself) so we looked it up. It was fun. He was framed for opening the Chamber of Secrets, but it was actually Tom Riddle who did so, in case you were wondering.

And of course girls care about social functions, dude...They're the social gatekeepers. They care about what the pack is doing so they can fall in line and be a part of it. There are a lot of evolutionary biological reasons for this.

And yes, boasting that you don't celebrate Christmas because you're areligious and that it's all about consumerism is just no-fun. Girls don't like no-fun. Even if that's how you feel, sometimes it's best (and believe me I've learned this the hard way) to keep your mouth shut, say "cool" and move on to the next topic.

Cant speak for the other stuff but a girl who cares about Christmas demonstrates value to me. She would rather be making a home than out doing vapid bullshit, cares about tradition, has positive feelings associated with family time -- all green flags

Women have interests, men have interests; most of these are banal. If you want dates/plates/LTRs with women who are more interesting, choose deeper women.
