None. Guys who made it promote it because they get it for free from sponsors, rest use it for convenience or just because everyone does lol.

If you are dead set on not eating real food and compromising gains in long term:

First focus on type of whey: hydro > isolate > filtered concentrate > concentrate

Second find some without artificial sweeteners, only stevia is ok. Rest fucks with gut microbiota which fucks with insulin sensitivity which lead to more fat gains, less muscle gains and fucks your testosterone too.

From those couple on market that will left after above selection, choose either by price or taste..

Just a tip that I did not find in any beginner guides and had to learn the hard way.

Whey protein concentrate gives me mad diarrhea. Whey protein isolate is usually more expensive but doesn't contain the lactose that was giving me trouble.

I also personally prefer flavorless protein powder. The flavored stuff has too much carbs or too much sugar substitute that messes with my ability to appreciate the tastes of a clean diet.

I just use body fortress. It's cheap and helps me hit my macros. Only problem is that it has a lot of artificial sweetener in it, and also more cholesterol.

Doesn't matter. All the best brand shit is just marketing nonsense. It's all the same. Find something that works and stick with it. These are inane shit you shouldn't bother with.

You can skip whey and just eat clean good food and get shredded. Obviously not the rock level buff but shredded to make women swoon.

Just eat clean and lift.

Consumer Reports tested whey protein powders and found them all to be contaminated with heavy metals, mercury, arsenic, and other contaminates. Muscle Milk was the worst.

Only one brand tested free of any of that stuff: Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard.

I drink ON Gold Standard, but I've gone long periods of time without it and don't notice any difference.

I use ProMix and it’s by far the best tasting chocolate, IMO

I tried all kinds of grass fed hormone free stuff and None compare. No stevia no bullshit and you get your BCAA added in.

I like getting enough protein everyday and breakfast is usually only 20-30grams so I typically have a shake with it. If I have a meaty breakfast like an omelette or whatever I’ll have a shake at night for a snack.

But like some users say don’t become reliant on it. It’s expensive and like fruit juice the real stuff is better for you.

Gold Standard is typically recognized as having all the best qualities. Body Fortress from Wal Mart is cheap, and surprisingly good whey, though it is higher in calories, carbs, and cholesterol per scoop.

And of course there's the question of whether you even need to use protein supplement or not. If you're a big eater, then you could easily get away with stuffing down food instead, which is better. Me, personally, I'm not a big eater at all, so drinking my extra food is way easier than eating it.

True Nutrition (can get standard whey or make a custom blend) or Nitrean from At Large Nutrition. Both are high quality and used by numerous top powerlifters and bodybuilders.
