Sounds like you have issues with being confident. You want to get to a point where when you feel like cold approaching you do it, because you aren't nervous or anxious.

You do this by learning to accept that your wants, desires and feelings are valid and you have every right to openly pursue them, regardless of how others feel about it.

The problem in this equation is the false want. You are 17, you don't know what you want yet. You want girls because that's how 17 year olds measure success.

Try and understand the reason why you are afraid to cold approach a girl, is because you feel like you are somehow not alowwed to have desires. Try and understand why you feel that way.

It's like anything, you'll suck at it first but getting better the more you do it. Of course smv helps a lot and you got a ways to go. Doesn't mean you can't try. The higher you get your smv the more mistakes you can get away with.

Approach anxiety is something normal. Its a body mechanism telling you that the girl you just saw its your type and you have to go talk to her. You can use it as fuel or you can do the easy thing and look away.
