How do you get mentally tougher?

Face hardship. Get put under lots of pressure and remain calm.

Mental "toughness" can't really be trained.

Totally disagree with anyone who says mental toughness cannot be trained. How do you think they make SAS black ops soldiers mentally tough. They use special methods that break down the mind before they build it back up. Here are some simple suggestions to increase your mental strength. 1. Remove an item of comfort for a month. I recommend your phone except business use so remove your apps and data, basically the Internet lol. If your religious partake in lent. 2. Every day try a new food that you probably won't like and eat it all. 3. Quit all vices and drink water....nothing else apart from your protein shakes. 4. Do every calculation you come across daily in your head. NEVER use a calculator unless you really have to check. 5. Get up in the dark to go running 5am...no excuses 7 days a week. 6. Cold showers everytime. 7. Combat sports, mma, boxing or muay Thai. And compete, training only gets you so far you need to get getting knocked down and getting up. 8. Study mathematics, I don't care how old or advanced you are if your not Stephen hawking then you can improve your maths knowledge. 9. Meditation. 10. Save all your money that isn't needed for essentials. And bank it. Ps nandos and that new coat are not essentials

Do these 10 things for 6 weeks straight and I promise your mental strength will increase. Then you can set higher mental tasks for yourself to exceed in the future.

Make tough but worthwhile goals and go all out to achieve those said goals without giving up.

It's like with weight training, you take on a light challenge, overcome it while remaining calm and then you add more and more.

Obviously just like the body of a fatty would break when benching 200, your will is going to break easily since it's not trained.

Face hardships and seek situations where you're not comfortable.

Coldshowers only (at least for the morning, but even after a workout they feel pretty damn good afterwards) and approaching/talking to strangers is a good place to start.

Do some extreme stuff or just stuff you're not comfortable doing. Let yourself be stressed and challenged and endure it. Approach girls, go to survival camp, do some embarrassing stuff etc.
