Sometimes when I chat with other people, they will suddenly stop replying for a few hours or a few days, and then resume as normal. It's almost always done by girls, and usually after I ask a question (and not necessarily a dating related one). Sometimes they just "disappear" entirely, pretending not to see the message, but would respond if I sent another one after a while.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves, because it's obviously a power-play, along the lines of "you're showing interest in me and I have enough of that so I can ignore you if I feel like it". Guys never do that, nor do girls who have the hots for me.

Often it's sort of a shit-test, to see if I'm going to send more messages or be bothered by the silence. I don't fall for that anymore, but I still feel like I'm losing every time my messages or questions are being ignored.

Am I over-thinking this? Should I just accept it as an annoying feature of talking to girls? How do you deal with this behavior?
