How to push for exclusivity/upgrade from plate?

There is no "non-needy way" to go about this if you are essentially pleading her to sever ties with whoever else she's seeing. She has to be the one trying to lock you down, not the other way around.

More importantly, I have to break it to you like this, but you have a serious blind-spot if you see "great potential for an exclusive relationship" in this one because it seems quite clear that she doesn't see the same in you (not yet at least).

All that aside, ok, fine - so you want to push for exclusivity anyway. Here are two likely outcomes:

1) she gives you a soft "no", but remains ok with continuing to plate you. This move will likely also boost the value of whoever else she's seeing, supposing they haven't made a similar move or fucked it up badly in more recent times. From her point of view, this puts you in the "I can have him if I want him, but why rush?" basket (i.e. backburner)

2) she agrees, but does so reluctantly. This will not cut off any tingles she may have for anyone else she's currently seeing. Also, do you think you can handle the possibility of her being suspicious with her phone, 'random' late night texts, a potential disappearing act here and there? Who do you think is going to want an occasional piece of that ass? Hint: it's someone who's already been there before...

This is what you're up against, and this is why it is strongly advised to get women to make the push for exclusivity, not men.

It's not your responsibility so stop thinking about it. Also three months isn't even long enough to be able to judge if she is worth promoting. Six to twelve months at least.

Great answers here so far, but you also need to work on your mentality. You shouldn't feel the need to push for exclusivity. You're thinking from a position of lower value. You should be the prize. Remember, whoever cares less in a relationship has the most power.
