Your success rate is going to be like 5% on cold approaches, and by that I mean there's a 5% chance she'll be receptive to even talking to you for a few seconds. The numbers go down from there when you start asking how many would give you their number, then down further when you want to know how many of them respond.

Your openers should be designed first and foremost to see if a girl is receptive to talking to you. You should go into the interaction expecting that most of the time the answer is no. The best opening lines are designed to help you figure out if a girl is receptive to you as quickly as possible. As soon as you discover that the answer is no, move on to the next.

Lots of good advice in this thread and you should listen to it. I also wanted to throw this out there:

Picking up a girl in the line of a club is very different than, say, talking to a girl sitting at a table in a coffeeshop.

Girls waiting in line for a club don't want to talk about where they're from or anything else boring like that. You have about 3 seconds to catch their interest.

You didn't do anything wrong. They just wanted nothing to with you at that moment. This is something you have little control over.

Does this happen to you guys often? Just a straight cold shoulder?

Women do this all the time to men they don't consider attractive or high status.

With more experience you will get a better feel for when girls have this attitude so you can avoid wasting time on then to begin with.

Without knowing how you look, it's hard to say whether this was because of your SMV, or because of your approach.

But presuming you're an at least average looking guy, I would have done a few things differently to get better results.

General questions don't work as well as directed questions in my experience. Instead of talking to them all at once and saying "are you guys from here", you should direct your questions towards one girl, and say "are you from here". It makes it clearer who you're trying to talk to. Also, unless you're trying to challenge yourself, approaching a girl that's alone is easier than trying to approach a girl within a group.

Does this happen often in cold approaches? Dude, like 90%, 95% of the time. If you are not Chad Thundercock, cold approaches are a numbers game. The more girls you meet, the more like you are to find ones for whom you grind their beans.

I always think of the first few approaches as a warm up, it's usually not until after a few that I really start to hit my stride. I've gotten to the point where I feel energized by the approach even if it goes cold or I'm rejected because I know every approach even failed approaches is one less approach before I have a successful one.

Just chalk approaches up to "practice" and try to flip it so that you can view every approach as a positive (i.e. learning experience, one less until success, more time to approach girls who are interested in guys like me, etc.). Also, those questions are the stock questions every guy asks, myself included before I realized they don't work. Girls are used to shooting these down and probably are bored already...you've got to bring something new to the table if you're going to spark something. Either prepare some "opinion openers," be direct or have something interesting to talk about or that you've noticed about them.

It happens. Not a big deal. Some girls just think they are better than you. No worries just give em a nod and politely continue your night. You might bump into em again at another pub then you can say something about how they look familiar and by then they may be a little more open to you or not either way more fish in the sea just keep swimming.
