I am aware this isn't the best sub for this advice being it solely about careers guidance, but I know the knowledge you guys could give me will be blunt and I feel like the people of this sub can relate to a man who just wants to be the best version of himself and make it in this world. I am going to have to lay down a bit about my past to pull this into context. I am currently a 19 year old attending my first few weeks of university in the UK studying a course in Business. I spent all of my high school education slacking off and settling for average, spending my time skipping class and smoking weed. I understand it was deserved when I got my got average results and couldn't get into my first choice university (I got 2 A levels and a BTEC- Grades CCD*) . I decided to take a gap year. I spent most of this gap year working and saving money, I only became red pill aware around Christmas of last year.

Started going the gym, investing in myself and valuing my time. I quit video games and solely focused on my music, the learning of Spanish, reading and other productive hobbies. One regret is that in that whole year I didn't bother to learn to drive. I have come a hell of a way from the social anxious, low self esteem mess of a human being that the majority of my teenage years consisted of. I love the way my life is going but my career path as it had no clear direction and academic evidence seemed unclear. Its important to note that entrepreneurship has always appealed to me.

I still had a place at my 2nd choice university set for a place set for this year so I assumed I was still going to go to university, I had some days where I didn't want to go but most of the time I was set on going following the mentality that If I don't go now I will never go and I wouldn't of known if I was right unless I went.

Now that I am here I have had a realisation that this is not what I want.

- I do not like the city that my university is in, not the right for me.

- I do not want to study, slave away at essays and assignments for 3 long years(first year doesn't even count) I feel like I am coming a lot more pragmatic.

- I don't drink or enjoy partying that much. I know that's not what all students are about but in the UK its seems pretty necessary at a C tier university to successfully socialise and get around.

-I am not qualified with my current grades to go to a good university and study a course that could give me better career prospects, too many people have Business Degrees in the UK and they are not specialised enough.

My options instead could be:

-Get an apprenticeship of some sort, although I do not like the idea of being stuck in one company and as mentioned I am interested in starting my own at some point.

-Work for the next year, network ect and then go to a university in a city that I actually like, potentially study a different course.

- Work then travel and see where life takes me.

- Study somewhere or resit exams to boost my university prospects although I don't know if that is possible considering my age and I think I might of been out the loop for too long.

I know that I am a naive 19 who really has no clue how the world world works and careers. I know I have only done 3 weeks at this university. I need to shut up and get on with it but I don't really have anyone in my life who can give me any reasonable straightforward advice. Many of the people who have been university say if you do not want to go to university with all your heart do not go, don't just wing it because when those 2nd and 3rd years come around your really going to struggle. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and be blunt with your words. If there is any more information needed just slide it my way. Thanks to the TRP Community.
