In the 21st century being an effective worker means knowing how to deal with people. And knowing how to deal with people means knowing when to smile and gladhand, and when to flip your shit.

The upshot is, you want respect, you have to get results. It's not even about how hard you work. You can work like a dog, but if your shit isn't up to scratch then all your talk about respect makes you look weak and needy. In fact you sound like a woman.

but the real answer is join a profession. Law, Medicine, Accountancy, Engineering, Military (officers).

You want to work for someone, i.e. be exploited while someone else reaps the profits, while at the same time being your own man. Those are mutually exclusive. What you need to do is start your own thing. Figure out what you are best at, and then figure out how to leverage this to create value for others. Then go out there and create opportunities for yourself.

Good paying jobs where you are not the boss but you still get respect and are valued happens when you have a particular skillset that is difficult to acquire.

That's why being an engineer is an ideal job. You get high pay, you don't have to be a "boss" but you are still highly valued and respected.

You don't get respect by being an 'hard worker', if you're in an office environment it might reflect badly on you, actually!

You want to command respect? Then be the boss yourself. Second to that, be the next in line or good enough to, at least in theory, quit and open on your own.

Gonna be honest with you OP just work hard for yourself. You will have a hard time finding a boss who respects a hard worker. Now share a hobby with that same boss and invite him to a social event outside work and it's a totally different story. Not like your colleagues are ever gonna be thrilled to see the guy that makes them look worse at their job either.

See your purpose in life is just what you make it. People who just had a job jump out at them and it clicked first time aren't that common I think. Are there jobs out there that fit with your personality? Sure and you should find them but my advice when you do find them is to work hard enough at your job as to not blatantly take the piss out of your seniors and save the hard work for yourself.

Your post is missing critical information. How old are you? Do you have a university or college degree? What are your interests?

I can tell you candidly that in order to make money for yourself, you have to create value and /or make money for other people. The most direct route to higher earnings has been, in my experience, sales.

And I'm not talking about b2c sales, I'm talking business to business. If you want to get into the corporate world, make a lot of money, and generally have a good work life balance, start a career in business development and progress to selling more complex services and solutions. The money is right and the network you develop is unmatched.

If you're not interested in selling, I would recommend a technical career or one that allows you the flexibility to have more than one career. Firefighters, as one example, often have second businesses and make a lot of side income.

You could look into medicine, law, there's literally dozens of ways to create high income. But it sounds like you don't want to bend over for anyone and take your lumps that come with a professional career, so I would also look into starting your own business.

I'm cop. Fits what you're looking for. 6 figures, full benefit, work your ass off for a worthwhile goal. You have to be tough, skilled, highly intelligent. Taking women for dates to the shooting range is impressive as fuck and its very easy to be aloof about the "things youve seen."

Women love the uniform and learning to carry yourself in a RP manner helps you both on and off the job.

Wrong mentality. Get a high paying job for yourself. Women don't want you to give them stuff, they want to claim that your success is theirs.

Here is the correct mentality: "I am successful and women wish they were part of my life."

As far as good jobs, technology is accessible and well paying.
