What part of the spine? I had to get spinal fusion in my lower back from a football injury I got in college. I wasn't able to lift for 18 months.

When I was cleared, I decided to squat. Just warm up weight, 135 pounds, hadn't squatted since my injury. On my 5th rep of my first set I got the worst back spasm ever and had to be carried to an ambulance. Thought I was paralyzed. Turns out I blew out 3 disks around where I had to get my spinal fusion operation. Added 3 more months of rehab.

All I have to say is be really careful. That was 4 years ago. Today I lift, but I avoid almost any exercise that could strain my lower back, like squatting or bent over rows. I have to make up for it doing other leg & back lifts.

You need to rebuild your entire body from the ground up, if what you said about 2 destroyed discs are true. Means no lifting for a while.

First, get qualified expert advice as MattyAnon said.

Secondly, It won't be popular, but you should forgo lifting for the next couple of years. If I were you, I would look into a program that is designed to strengthen and improve the bodies resistance to injury, such as GymnasticBodies Foundation, Handstand, and Stretch series. core strength and developing core strength is the key to stronglifts 5x5. That is ideal for your situation. There are also plenty of online tutorials for proper form. The benefit of 5x5 is that you start with low weights, so just focus on form for the beginning.
