I met this girl, we went on a few dates, and she was into me. While we were talking, I had mentioned fucking up my mom's mother's day gift and my mom also called me, which I blew off. She took offense but I brushed it off as nothing. We had another date set up, but she flaked on me which set off alarms. She strung me along for another two weeks and told me she was seeing someone else. Whatever.

However, my ego got the better of me and I regretfully asked her what about me turned her off. She said it was because of how I treated my mom. I can't help but think she's lying to me again, but taking her word has me hamstering about how something so minute would be reason enough to break things off.

I've tried taking advice from the sub reddit and taking a step back about why I was so into her. I've come to the conclusion that it was because we were both looking for an ltr. I know it's just my projection of emotions onto her, but it hasn't helped. In the mean time, I've gotten back out into the dating pool, but I can't seem to get this girl out of my head.

I was hoping someone could give me some ideas to help dealing with these thoughts. Mediating works, but only for so long, and I've tried relating negative feelings to thoughts about her, but nothing seems to be helping and I wind up thinking about her far too often.
