What is TRP's attitude about /r/nofap?
[–]wickedwildewolf7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Abstaining from masturbation and porn certainly has benefits, tho using it with moderation has no harmful effects.
Nofap is too cultish and absolute, and they overplay the benefits to the level of pseudo-science.

Some loud people subscribe to that, most don't. It's pseudoscience, and has nothing to do with trp

I think it's a definite yes (in terms of most people here at /r/TheRedPill) in abstaining from masturbation as much as possible, but you'll be fine in moderation. Your "drive" is lost when you fap, and not fapping increases hormones that make you want to go get laid.
Here is a nice thread about it though.

Testosterone increases when men are more sexually frustrated.
So yes, abstaining will increase your sex drive.

T peaks after one week without ejaculation, then declines from there. It does not just keep going up.

Testosterone levels: OVER 9,000

They have a point. I never watch porn and tap once a week at most.
There was a stage where I was getting laid all the time, and then it stopped. So I'd fap all the time, and the quality of my erections was awful.
I only do it once a week if I really can't resist the temptation (and haven't been laid in a few days)
I'd recommend never watching porn, and only waking once a week. To each their own, but I've never had a problem getting quality erections since

people who try it see changes, people who dont say it's bullshit..

A lot of time too much masturbating is an effect of another problem; not the cause

Abstaining from porn has huge benefits in many ways. A must for a TRP man. Abstaining from compulsive masturbation is good for your health.
Aside from that, I agree with Robert Glover that healthy masturbation is good for you.

Men have been masturbating for a very, very long time., so my view is that if it disadvantaged men in some way, then natural selection would have taken care of that a long time ago.
That being said, porn addiction may be a real thing, and I think like anything else, porn should be consumed in moderation.
Sometimes I think the followers of NoFap confuse so-called excessive masturbation with excessive porn viewing, which I think can be forgiven since one is generally done in conjunction with the other.

Never ejaculating is not good for the prostate, and not ideal hormone wise. Excessive fapping will drain a man.
Unless you are doing prolonged celibacy for spiritual purposes, I think the pipes should be cleared once a week, so I fap once a week if I didn't have sex that week. Otherwise I might fap randomly if I really feel like it. Its not that big a deal as long as it's not more than a few times a week.

Broscience, essentially
Going to give it a shot. or.... not amirite? :)

You don't have to abstain completely, but just remember that frequent masturbation is for losers. Generally. Those guys in nofap are a bit absolutist for me, though.

All I can say is thank god for /r/nofap
Not because it's the 'way' but because it really did show me how new perspectives can arise in what was previously a rigid mindset. Without NoFap I would never have found TRP and am unbelieveably grateful for that, however the community has gotten a bit saturated these days and I rarely check out what's cracking off.
(Haven't watched porn in over 110 days)

Pretty damned silly. What you gonna do, put it on your license plate?

I have found over the past few months, that when I am on a streak of about 2 weeks or more, I am more risky with girls, and more masculine. I answered this post for myself over the past few months. I would say to try it out, and not think so much as to what your streak is, but to how connected you feel to your outside world and the opposite sex.
I think there are similarities between NoFap and TRP. Nofap allows you to unplug from the matrix that is the addiction of fapping. Not everyone is addicted, no, but you definitely notice your sex drive increase. Nofap also explains that this increase in testosterone is not only noticeable to you. It is said, and I have experienced this, that others notice, especially women. I feel like women perceive me differently when I have a good streak going.
I say try it out and let us know your opinions after you get to over a month streak. Good luck man, I know it gets difficult.

Fapping converts androgen receptors in the brain that bind testosterone(the male hormone), so they bind to estrogen (the female hormone). You become less male and more female.
