This is a textbook demonstration of imperfect understanding of how to properly neg.

You neg a woman on things they are confident in to make them slightly less confident and therefore to make them qualify themselves for you. You do not neg a woman on something she lacks confidence in. Ever. She sees that as prodding an open wound and it will shut her down exactly as happened to you.

Negging is teasing. It is not insulting. This woman felt too old for you. This is where you switch to another topic. Normally, when a woman expresses an insecurity, I recalibrate with a minor compliment unrelated to it. This shifts her mental gears without dropping the clutch, and she will forget the insecurity momentarily.

Here is one I literally used to bang a 54-year old (who looked late thirties at worst) last summer:

"I'm too old for you."

"But you have awesome dress sense."
