The prevailing advice is to invest in an index tracker (something that automatically tracks the best performing stocks around the world and apportions your capital automatically between them) as this will track the long-term average of the stock market itself and is hassle free.

This is a "set and forget" investment style and the top recommendations on UKPF are Vanguard LS 100 (if you can leave the investment for 25+ years) and the Global All Cap index trackers.

This is a set and forget strategy for long-term growth. Do not invest money into equities like this if you cannot leave it for a minimum of 5-10 years.

If you're looking to trade, which is buying and selling stocks rather than investing, I recommend you sign up for an account with the likes of eToro and be prepared to lose everything you try to invest for the first few years before finding out whether or not you're good at it.

Start crafting good Google Search queries and begin reading blogs on the Web. Take notes, refine them, share them with others, iterate through your thoughts. Then take a course on Coursera while you parallelly allot some cash to invest. Build a portfolio, track the market regularly, be accountable of your investments and keep practising till you get good at the art of growing your wealth.

If you are serious and want to be thorough, textbooks + investopedia are your best bet. YouTube and forums have good content as well, but you have to sift through shitty content to find it.

If don’t want to spend time understanding the fundamentals and math, then stick to ETFs (exchange traded funds) and blue chip stocks and go from there.

Anyone advertising 10000% returns over any timeframe is trying to sell you something, period. Reading charts is bullshit (i.e. there is zero scientific evidence that reading bullshit chart patterns results in better odds than random chance). Technical indicators are the finance equivalent of horoscopes.

If there is one book you should read, it’s Adaptive Markets by Andrew Lo. The man is a genius and an accomplished financial economist, and his book touches on many important topics in finance with zero mathematical equations.
