Preface: If you asked me three months ago what i thought about the word "Sorry", i'd tell you to cut it out of you vocabulary. The only time i would say sorry is i did something truly terrible, like ran over your dog. But saying it for minor inconveniences like bumping into someone, or stepping on their shoes, or whatever de values the word and makes you look like a pussy

I followed this for about 3 years, since i started reading TRP

I literally only said Sorry once in 2017, because i said something that really hurt someone i cared about, and i felt it needed to be done, not just to save face, but out of genuine regret for what i said.

I said it twice in 2016 to save face for one social, and one professional blunder

Background: Since then I've started meditating, I've been doing it for about two months, and I've found that it's made me much more empathetic, among other things.

What i mean by this is, if someone tells me, "Man, I've had a bad day, X Y Z happened", six months ago i'd tell them to quit their bitching, but now i find myself, almost instinctively responding with "I'm sorry, but just keep on pushing through it"

Or, for instance, my co worker slipped on ice the other day going to work and was walking funny (Dude still hasn't gone to see a doctor), and when he told me i said something along the lines of "I'm sorry dude, are you alright?"

Question: Is saying sorry, in a genuinely empathetic tone (I get a positive response out of people from the empathy) a bad thing? Should i cut it out? Mind you, i'm not saying it for stupid shit, like getting in someones way when walking down the hall, it's almost exclusively in an "Empathetic Context". But what do ya'll think?
