However, about my question in the title. A background - I was in a LTR with a girl I was intending to be married to (I know). I was the only person she's had sex with, the sex was great and frequent and she was very submissive. She had a great father and was quite religious. Basically no red flags. Everything was good from my point of view, other than the distance of course. That was, until she told me she cheated on me (kissed another guy) a week after it apparently happened. And it wasn't like anything seemed wrong. It was actually a night that I was extremely successful in a college competition that it happened. So this completely blindsided me and I broke up with her the next day because cheating is a 100% hard next.

I've been doing alright since then. That was towards the end of last school year, and I've had dates and a plate / sudo relationship over the summer. However, I feel like I can't trust any girl at all. Or anyone for that matter. This girl I described in the previous paragraph, I thought that if anyone would be loyal, it would be her. I never once considered that she would cheat on me. And we had a lot of background that reinforced that belief. With my non-trusting, my summer girl even commented on it a few times. Such as her directly saying "I feel like you don't trust me, I don't have concrete proof to back that up, but I just feel it". And after thinking about it she was definitely right; I constantly kept myself distanced from her. I realized I do this with everyone too, after I began to think about it. Constantly having a wall up to avoid getting hurt is probably the best way to put it.

Is there a good way to get over trust issues? Or is it a matter of I should do through vetting to make absolute sure? Or is this something that actually isn't a problem because you just simply can't trust anyone?
