Stepping out to get in a fight in the middle of traffic with a yoyo guy like that would have been really stupid. Him following you just so he could cuss you out really shows he's a total idiot with no composure or self control. You not rising to take the bait shows you are actually higher on the "real man" totem pole as you held frame, stayed composed, and didn't do anything stupid yourself.

That guy, if he doesn't grow up, will be undermining himself with stupid, emotional decisions for the rest of his life while you'll be building your SMV and a better life all around. You actually did yourself solid in the situation. It's normal to have a reaction after like you're having. Don't beat yourself up. You handled it right.

Edited to add - if the guy makes a habit of doing that, he's gonna run up to a car one day and find himself receiving high velocity lead therapy to tone down his aggression for the remaining 3 seconds of his life.

just train yourself to go into fight mode at the flick of a switch before andenaline or anything else has a chance to catch up,most men need to "hulk up" 1st you see this when 2 guys start shouting at each other then pushing then the punches come,there is a consistant escalation on both sides leading up to a fight.

It doesn’t happen to me very often, but when someone gets angry at me in traffic I point at them and laugh. This really makes them lose their shit. Note: obv don’t do this if it’s going to put your life in danger.

EDIT: I did have a middle-aged guy roll up on me at a gas station (this was 10 or 15 years ago) because he though I didn't stop long enough at a stop sign - first, I did, second it's not his business if I didn't. His wife was with him and NEVER bring your wife to a potential fistfight.

Him: "{Whatever dumb shit}"

Me: "Is that your wife?"

Him: "Yes."

Me: "Do you REALLY want to get your ass kicked in front of her?"

Him: {Drives off}

Note: While you generally want to give guys an out, it was clear as this unfolded that (a) he posed zero physical threat to me, (b) he had not thought things through, and (c) I just wanted him gone, and that was going to end the convo.

Lack of motivation, not wanting to workout and seeing your gf could be tied to hormone problems. Maybe checking your endokrine system could help? I think that would explain a lot, also why you feel less of a 'man'.

Got caught off guard or never been in a potentially life or death situation outside of a little schoolyard shouting/shoving match. That guy was probably psyched out and WOULDVE KILLED YOU. That startled you, it happens(has happened at one point TO ALL OF US homie) where you freeze up during your first life/death situation. Some of us have been in so many that it barely registers, we just go in machine mode and run, stab, shoot, swing, or tell the motherfucker what it's gonna be if they don't back the fuck up off us.
