Plans change. If she's young and has high SMV (I.e orbiters) , she'll forget you within a week.

Every situation is unique. You have to be able to calibrate and think on your feet.

In this case, because she’s going to be gone for such a long time, I would treat her the way I treat girls after our first time having sex. Which is to say, I don’t plan on seeing them for at least another week if not closer to two weeks. So I shoot a text the following day to make sure she has my number and just say “Had fun last night. Let’s do it again soon.” Then they usually respond with a “Ok!” or “Me too! Blah blah” then I say, “sounds good, I’ll be in touch.” I set the expectation that I’ll be the one to reach out, then go silent and let them wonder when I’m going to contact them again. Or IF I’m going to contact them again. It’s a good position to play from. They might get eager and reach out. They might just be hoping I call, so when I finally do, it’s exciting.

In this case I would text “Had fun chatting on the subway yesterday. Enjoy your trip, babe. I’ll be in touch.” It’s non-needy. Sets the sexual frame. Sets the expectation that you will reach out. Then you can disengage and wait until she’s back in town or the day before she comes back to reach out and set up a date for a few days after she returns.
