Seriously, reddit is one of the most addictingly time-wasting sites ever invented. One of the biggest ways seddit has helped me is making me realize how relevant the material here is (the refrain "LESS TALK, MORE FIELD REPORTS" is part of it), and how pointless 98% of the rest of reddit is.

If you want concrete suggestions, IMHO most people should unsubscribe from all the default subreddits – yes, including r/pics and r/funny – and subscribe to the the sidebar-linked subreddits:

And possibly:

  • r/polyamory if that's your bag
  • r/lgbt if relevant
  • r/TwoXChromosomes as another way to learn about girls and their weird, weird brains (don't post, especially not about pickup – no good will come of it – but IMHO lurking is really educational and interesting)
  • And maybe 1-2 directly related to your actual life. (E.g. you're a programmer, so you stay subbed to proggit; but that doesn't make you a mathematician, so r/math is probably just wasting your time.)

If you can't bear the thought of quitting cold turkey, create a separate "seddit" username and then do the above. Whenever you really feel compelled to read pointless, random DAE and AMA posts, log into your "reddit" account, and whenever you're back to focusing on stuff that matters, log back into your "seddit" account.

TL;DR – STOP WASTING SO MUCH TIME ON REDDIT
