I'm moving to Japan in the next couple of months. What kinds of things are unique to meeting women in Japan? I'm new to this subreddit and the Tokyo one (though I will not be in Tokyo, nor Osaka or Fukuoka—maybe Nagoya)

I speak some Japanese, having studied it for four years though I haven't studied much lately so it's probably gotten a little weak.

Here's the rub: As an exchange student in college, I lived in a moderate-sized city in Japan for 11 months. I never once had luck meeting or dating any women the entire time. I keep hearing "how easy" it is to meet women there, but not having any luck before, I find myself frustrated. Truth be told, being an AFC would be a step up for me, not down, going by the definition on the glossary of terms.

I'm reading through the FAQ, I'm going to listen to the podcasts, etc., but I'm interested in Japan-specific advice, especially for someone new to trying to meet women.
