Any thoughts on an app like this directed towards pick up?

The problem I see with this is what you initiated the post with. The opinion of what people are looking for is subjective in its entirety.

I suppose for an app that simply gives information on whats open and closed and specific types of music could be handy. But how would you get this information? Would you start from scratch and wait until you get rates and recommendations? To simplify it - it seems like you need people to make it successful, and people won't use it before it's successful as there's no point to.

I'd imagine it'd be like foursquare in my local area. Very few uses it and I eventually grew tired of using it even though the idea is great. You need to come up with a self-nourishing idea that isn't necessarily 100% dependent on people, while people still want to use it. It's a difficult task, I'll give you that. Might be why some startups fail.

If you can, however, solve what I said in the end here then by all means go for it bro. If you manage to get it established, then I would without any doubt use it.

I travel all the time, too. It's often more trouble than it's worth looking for cool spots. So i would definitely give such an app a go. But i feel like it's too much a niche community to get a decent userbase. Sometimes I feel like a lot of the community doesn't actually go out just stays at home reading PUA theory.

I don't travel as much as I used to, but I never had any trouble finding the best spots in any city. I would just walk up to the receptionist at the hotel I was staying at (or one of the clients, when we were chilling / having a smoke / whatever), basically someone local, and they would almost always direct me to the best nightclubs / jazz bars / amusement parks. And of course, if she was cute, I'd almost always go with her.

The "trick" is to stop looking at places to pickup women, and just have fun wherever you go. If you are the guy having fun, you are gonna find women everywhere.

I would like to point out that I have a wide range of tastes in music, so any place would be great for me. If you are in town for only a few days, do you really care about what kind of women you meet? I mean, I have honestly found really hot women at Hard Rock Cafes, Reggae bars, or even local bars with local language entertainment (I literally didnt understand anything that was said or sung that night, except for that time I sang - horribly - Have a Nice Day - Bon Jovi with the local Indonesian band!)
