I highly recommend reading some of the popular pick up books. If you don't like to read, then literally just youtube popular pick up artists and try to watch their talks. This will give you a foundation to get started.

Most of the guys I see with little experience usually get their first dates through dating apps and/or social circle. That gives you "warmer" leads to start with, instead of putting your skills to the test for the first time on a gut wrenching cold approach.

Direct Approach: You walk to her, walk tall, big steps, make eye contact, smile and just say "hey, I just saw you standing here and wanted to come over and say hi to you...what is your name?"

if you are good looking and confident, then this works too:

"hey, I just saw you standing here and thought you were cute and wanted to come over and say hi to you...what is your name?"

Indirect Approach: You sorta walk over to her, make eye contact, smile and say "Hey, do you know where the Starbucks is...?"

Try this, ask them,

"Do you know my name?".

This is a weird question because they could legitimately say,

"Of course not!",

but in most cases, if they have already shown interest, they will happily want to know what your name is and tell you what their name is and probably soon forget how you ever started talking. If you don't have much time then just say,

"Hey, I have to dash now, so could I get your number and I'll get back to you?".

I'm not sure why this question is so disarming but I think it may be because it is not inquiring any information about her and if they are interested in you, the one thing that they want to know is your name.
