This is going to be brief, but I thought I'd get it off of my chest right here and now. I discovered this subreddit only a few days ago and already the top posts on this side have really made a difference in the way I perceive girls. As someone who has struggled with self esteem for quite a while, never had a girlfriend, and will be off to college in a few days, I think this was the perfect timing to find this subreddit. Anyways, to the story.

So I biked to a fast food place today near my house, and upon entering and standing in line I saw this pretty cute girl and her less attractive, webkinz-toting friend. The cute girl was carrying a foam nerf sword in her backpack, which is awesome because me and my brother used to whack the shit out of each other with them when we were younger. Now normally I wouldn't have said anything but after reading through this subreddit I realized, 'that's my ticket'. I didn't talk to her immediately, I went through in my head how I would open up a discussion with her as I calmly sat and ate my food. We made eye contact once or twice, I could tell she thought I was attractive in some way. I finished my food and went to the washroom, washed my face, counted to five and walked out the door. I approached her and said "I'm sorry to interrupt but I have to ask, what's with the awesome foam sword?" She laughed and said she was planning on jousting someone later, and we started chatting for about two minutes. I didn't really panic or anything, it was going well but I just sort of smoothly said "Alright well, I'm off but I wish you the best of luck with your jousting," to which she giggled and said goodbye, along with her friend. I don't really know why I said that, I think I just said it to say something and the moment I said it I regretted it. There was no reason to leave, and I wasn't even panicking and the conversation wasn't even stale. Just a dumb move on my part, I suppose. However, considering this was one of the first times I've approached a girl in a public setting where we weren't forced to interact (i.e. camp, university orientation) I'm pretty happy with myself, and just wanted to share. I guess I learned not to abandon ship so early, either!

I've got nothing else to say but thanks, /r/seduction.
