Since she's an HB10, she might not get approached all the often. Good work giving it a shot.

In this situation, I don't like pickup lines. You'll see her over and and over again on campus, so no need to close.

Rather, I say approach her as you would a guy. As if you're trying to make a friend. Comment on her cool phone. If it doesn't seem like you're trying to pick her up, you are much less threatening. Say you noticed she was sitting alone and wondered if she wanted some company. You have been looking for cool people to meet on campus.

I say don't comment on her looks and don't try to flatter her. You'll come off as more genuine and are automatically immune to the "silent stare" because you're trying to initiate genuine dialogue. Some may scream "friend zone bait!" but you're just trying to get basic rapport. Once you're in, then you can compliment, etc.

Just forget about the last encounter, and don't try to explain it away.

The opener was a bit weird. You noticed her and you had to know her name? Does that happen to every person you notice day to day? What actually happened was you saw her, thought she was cute, and you'd be kicking yourself the rest of the day if you didn't go and say hi to her. That's what you should have said, because it correctly and honestly articulated your feelings at that time.

But that's all in the past... now you're in damage control.

There are a couple of options, assuming that she will remember you from the previous... encounter. It's important you follow up the next day (or ASAP) so that the next time to you see her it's perceived more as a continuation.

Option 1: Framing: Nothing weird happened yesterday. Continue upbeat & happy, NO AWKWARDNESS, refer to previous encounter if necessary, but the frame is as if nothing weird happened.
Option 2: Humble, honest, direct: Something like "I got nervous yesterday. I think you're really cute and I wanted to say hi."
Option 3: Framing: "I can't believe you acted so weird yesterday" continue as the authority in control of the interaction. Tease, qualify, etc. This requires skill.

Personally I prefer Option 2, but it's probably going to come down to your personal preference & style, as well as how the ACTUAL interaction happened (as opposed to your interpretation and what you have shared with us from that interpretation).

Most girls like it when cool guys approach them. But some girls are simply too insecure to handle self-directed attention.

Call her out on it. "You're looking at me like I have 3 eyes, what's the matter, have you not been hit on before? Based on how good you look I refuse to believe that that's true, so you must simply be shocked by my ridiculous swagger"

You'd demonstrate intent, compliment her, and be fun/cocky in 2 sentences.

Don't tell her you have to know her name. That already gives her the leverage. Basically, by the end of your conversation she should want to know your name-- after she tells you hers.

Make her want to qualify herself. Yeah, she looks good, but approach her with your chest puffed out not giving a fuck and be the confident, interesting and outgoing motherfucker you know you are.

I would try a 2nd approach with...

Very good advice from a lot of you. I will see her tomorrow probably as usual in the cafeteria. I will attempt once more to be my normal self. Someone mention that I've lost and to strike her from my mind but you know what I haven't lost anything and I haven't got anything to loose by going up to her once more and showing her my Boss side ;)

It's funny because I'm usually confident and flirty. I don't know what she did to break me but i felt like from the moment I started talking it was just bad
