The meaning of the words depend on the context. There might be some girls out there that really mean it while for other girls it is just the girly way of telling a guy that he sucks just without appearing too rude. When dealing with women it is really important to read between the lines. A skill very hard to master. i am still working on it too. You also should ask your self the following question. How did you treat the girl during the date? like a male friend or did you try to show her that you are interested in her as a women?

I can tell it's a polarity issue. You need to address that before escalation or the right escalation won't properly exist....You can fix it.

Literally write down the behavioral traits a woman shows that are pleasing to you, and display the side of yourself that has the opposing traits.

If you want a girl that is lovely, you can't be lovely, you need to be rigid.

If you want a girl that is kind and sweet, you have to be an ass.

If you want a girl that is smart, you need to be a dumbass.

If you want a girl that is loyal, u need to be willing to exercise other options.

This is not bad news. Showing opposing traits is fun for both you and the girl, it's where sexually charged banter comes from.
