I'll try to summarize this as much as possible so the context becomes more clear. Me and some friends went to the beach today, had a great time, I talked/flirted alot with everyone, was pretty much the center of it all.

Afterwards when we get off the train from the beach, we all go our separate ways to our houses to clean up and pick up our meat for the BBQ we would be having later that evening... Since this would be the last time all of us would be together for a long time to come, I dressed up fairly casual-chique. (Nothing that fancy imo, just a shirt, collared shirt, long pants, wrist-watch etc...) You know just trying to look nice for everyone, and the ladies in particular.

Anyway, when I arrived most of em were already there and fairly 'standard' so to speak. Casual sport t-shirts, sweat pants and the like. I felt SEVERLY overdressed and wasn't comfortable with the group as a result. I believe they picked up on this change in my composure caus they started teasing me with my outfit. Like 'You planning on scoring with the ladies?' in a condescending way and stuff like that.

Anyway, I quickly 'dressed down' and recovered my momentum. But it still begs the question: 'Can overdressing/dressing too nicely be counterproductive when it comes to pickup?'
