How do you best reach the hook point when trying to pickup girls in bars?

I've been going out for about 6 months now and still can't tend to get the 'hook point' where the girl is asking me questions and clearly wants me to stay

From what i've read, after teh open, I should be making assumptions about the girl. Teasing her. But this doesn't seem to be working. Sometimes I can't think of anything to 'tease' teh girl about and maybe also struggle to 'make assumptions' about her (nothing really stands out about her)

Even on the occasions where I can 'make an assumption' it doesn't tend to lead to helping me reach the hook point.

Should I be using some sort of 'routine' after I open/introduce myself or whatever? If so, which ones? I obviously try to avoid just bombarding her with questions.

Last night, every girl I opened, it felt like she was desperate for me to go away. Responded to everything I said with super short answers. Never asked me a question. Lots of standing in silence, looking out into the middle distance.

How do the early part of your conversations look during night game? Give me some ideas of how you 'have fun' and are able to hook her? What do you say/do??
