How do you personally open a 3 set?

I would open the group if they are standing in a group, but only very briefly.

Say something to all of them at once as your opener, to broadcast dominance. Say something about the situation you're in, the bar, the party, whatever. LOUDLY. Then I would start chatting with the one who you are LEAST interested in first, to build up comfort. Move in close, invade her space, and just talk about any dumb thing, who cares. Just move your lips and make sounds come out. Then after getting a bit of comfort with the undesirable girl, use her to drag the hottie into the conversation.

Then you need to switch over from the not-hottie to the hottie, and leave the not-hottie to chat with the third.

Then isolate your target - ask her to come outside so you can hear her better, ask her to just "go over there" with you. She will understand, and if she's into you it won't be a problem.

If she says yes to being isolated with you, you got it in the bag. Run kino and close.

It helps me personally to drop the terminology. I see the room as a room of people, not sets.

If you walk up to a group and talk to one person, while ignoring the others, you might as well consider it a lost cause because you'll come off like an awkward person who doesn't know how to deal with people. If you are presented with a group like that, you're going to need to address them as a group before you have a real "in" to focus on a particular girl. And as you address the group, you will possibly even find that one of them will be interested, and often it's not necessarily the one you were thinking of when you walked up.

Here's the thing. You're too goal oriented. And you're ignoring so much context.

Where are you? What's the activity there? You ought to be engaged in whatever that is, to start off. Dancing, darts, pool, whatever.
You warm up by interacting with EVERYONE. The best way to ensure failure is to put upon yourself to only interact with girls you find interesting. It leads to you sitting off to the side trying to build up to talk to people, which is creepy and people notice it. Instead, go around talking to everyone. Even people you aren't interested in.
How would I open? No way to tell you. I simply focus on paying attention and I comment or ask questions about what I see. I could tell you what I used last time I was out, but it wouldn't help you because you wouldn't necessarily encounter what I do.
Note: At clubs, traditional verbal openers are a liability because people are there to listen to loud music and dance, both of which you'd be interrupting the fun of if you walked up and started TALKING as your opener. Most of my "openers" at clubs are basically dancing, having fun, making eye contact with people, and smiling.

it's been awhile since I went clubbing but I always interacted with the least attractive first. otherwise she has the ability to shut down anything u manage to get going with the one you like most.

The advice posted so far is wack. If its only a 3 girls, any dude walking up to them and trying to grab their attention will get the entire group's. Its 3 people, not a party of 10 where you can sneak up on the ones on the fringe unnoticed by the ones on the other side. You don't need to yell at them or even talk loud. Just wave and go hi and step up.

It also helps to come from a side they can all see you, but still go up closer to the one you want because you want still be within 2ft of all of them and if you come directly across (say the other side of a table) then that's too much talking distance.

I prefer a form of cold-read direct opener on the group that's small like this, so it would go like this: (wave to get attention of everyone, say hello) "I gotta say you and you, your heels and your necklace look great" (pointing out their accessories, girls tend to wear 1 or 2 things that make their outfit pop, and this compliment only goes to the girls I don't want.)

(then turning to the one I do want last) "But there's like one thing I hate about your outfit...and its why I'm here...and its because you look just too fucking gorgeous in it." Done correctly, the reaction is a mouth drop open because she thinks you're about to say shit to her but completely turn it around last minute. She may even punch you right off the opener (the playful kind). Direct normally doesn't work well at night game because everyone is complimenting her already, so I like to do these kind of sexual tension push-pulls instead.

Transition to high 5 and one armed hug. Then arm around your girl's waist. Speak to the others now.

"There are one two three of you here, am I gonna need to call my bodyguards? I might just for her, she seems like a little pervert" (hard tease/cold read, not an insult, so say with a smile)

(if they are standing, move group) "Yo, lets step off to the side over there, don't want to be in people's way." (turn and walk or keep arm around girl and guide, the group will follow since you're their current shiny thing)(if you have wings, walk them into your wings nearby so each one faces off with a girl and you're in instant isolation with yours)

After this the group is locked in and hooked. You can do anything you want at this point and the group is yours to lose.

Definitely open the entire group. Stand tall and talk LOUD to get everyone's attention. Could say anything as an opener, "how's your guys night going?" " is this the girls only area?" It doesn't really matter, as long as you are engaging everyone and are the center of attention on the initial open.

What typically happens is you will start having a little side convo with one of the girls. Ideally, the hottest one. If this happens, and things are going well, isolate her with any dumb excuse like " let's go talk over here, two seconds" . Tell her friends that you will bring her back in a second so they don't follow you. Then just do what you'd normally do in a one set.

There is a fun thing that you can do in three sets if you're advanced where you ignore or make fun of the hot one on purpose. This will create massive attraction because she's used to being the leader and the one that gets all the attention from guys. Once she starts fighting for your attention, you can eventually let her "win you over" and take things from there.
