Look, try this method, but I would suggest to you to keep an open mind and try other theories. All these "game" theories like Mystery Method, were made by humans. It's all a work in progress, in some ways.

There are limitations to a theory like MM. It was made by guys who were self-confessed late bloomers (Like Mystery, who was a socially awkward former D&D player until his 20s) in response to the dating environment of Hollywood. Which has a lot of bullshit to wade through. A lot of broken people with baggage. And this system was made to succeed with people in that environment.

So there's truth in it, NO question. But some of the philosophy that serves as the foundation for it, some of the judgements about human nature that Mystery provides, take them with a grain of salt. (I mean, we all want to date people we find attractive, but not everyone wants the drama of dealing with the sorts of people who are attracted to an environment like Hollywood.)

You see a lot of guys on Seddit posting about how they don't understand why different Pick-up Artists contradict one another. It's because they all have their own biases, and at the end of the day, ANY of these theories is nothing more than a road map for YOUR own journey. None of them are some concrete set of absolute truths.

I think after the opener i'm supposed to 'neg' her, but i'm not sure what to neg her about (assuming nothing obvious stands out), and I have a bad memory so find it hard to memorize certain 'negs' i've seen online (not to mention they might not be congruent)

Forget about negging if you don't want to. The basic idea is simply that you don't take yourself or life too seriously. The same thing with "shit tests." All it is, is the concept of being able to tease someone if you notice something funny. Or that you can take a joke about yourself. Etc. The point is not that you memorize a specific neg.

In fact, at this point, this many years after MM was published, women probably have heard many of those negs if they're in the book or if they've been circulating on the Internet very long.

But I get very confused in the moment. Forget what i'm supposed to do. Forget what i'm supposed to say.

It doesn't have to be complicated. You decide if you want something casual or something serious. Then once you have that down:

You socialize with everyone. You might notice a girl you want to focus on. You can do so, but don't drop all your socializing because of your interest in one person; the world doesn't stop because of one girl.
MM talks about approaching to start. But really, there are so many ways an interaction can start. It doesn't always require you "approaching." I often end up in group conversations that suck a girl in without me technically "approaching." The idea is not that you "approach" so much as the interaction starts. If she approaches, great. If you approach, great. If you're in a group that pulls her in, great.
MM makes the distinction that she has to show interest first. This really doesn't matter. The point is that both people are investing in the interaction going, not just one person holding up everything by themselves, forcing it. So you can show interest first, but then you have to leave room for her to show her own interest.
Then you get to know her. Conversation. Kino escalation. Conversation is the easy part: you can take almost any casual topic and go deeper with it, if you're listening to her as closely as possible and using what she says to come up with what you ask or say next. This is usually a good time to start thinking about exchanging contact information.
Then if you're into something casual, you might start figuring out if she's down to leave with you. Like ask her if she wants to leave. Or if she asks you if you want to leave, then go for it, obviously. If you're into something serious, then you might not push to leave right away. You might set up a Day 2 meet. It's up to you.
Whether you're trying to bounce with her on Day 1, back to your place, or during a Day 2, at some point you'll want to get her to a place where you can comfortably escalate all the way to sex. Like your place or hers. You don't want to be trying to escalate too far in public. For one thing you'll blow all the sexual tension too early and possibly come off too desperate.

That's about it, but honestly, you're going to screw up. So don't stress it too much. The basics of all this are just that you get comfortable socializing.

Well, the MM is kind of outdated and no one really uses it, not even Mystery himself who has gone on to promote his 3 Second Rule method and company. Some things might still prove useful but times have changed since The Game first came out.

For example social networking has done allot for human psychology (for better or worse) and the MM doesn't take that into account. It might work in party towns like Las Vegas or somewhere very outlandish but I would recommend to go with a whole different style (no pun intended) of Game altogether.

Mystery Method is "10 game," it's intended for women with high perceived self-worth, so they have high shields from social contact.

But the M3 model itself is very important. The basic theory is that every seduction goes through three phases, attraction, comfort, and seduction. You can stumble through them accidentally, without making errors, and "get lucky." Or you can lead a woman through the stages and in the morning she will say, "I didn't intend to sleep with him, but it just seemed right. It happened naturally."

I see a whole pragmatic approach to what should be felt in the moment. Script doesn’t work (most of the time) because it feel canned, made up, it rarely apply in the moment. You can learn technique, memorise script in the hope that they will apply, but what this is is only trying to “emulate” someone with wit, to a certain point. All this technical stuff end up only trying to emulate what qualities we all look for in other humans. I’m gonna copy/paste something I wrote to another post, I think it would apply to what I am trying to express:

Interestingly, I think it’s the sort of things you do naturally when you are confident, not looking for validation. I tend to think that most of the so called techniques are mostly “emulating” the result of having confidence and having a well balanced life: -Send negative message and don’t be a “yes man” agreeing with her every idea or have an opinion, and be confident enough to share it even if it is different -Don’t answer her text right away or have a life, you work, you go to the gym, you see some friends -Don’t ask when she is free or have a loaded schedule and propose the nights you are free -neg girls or be playful, have fun and tease her in a fun way. -Pass her shit test or Take all of this lightly, don’t be full of yourself and be confident enough so that you know it’s a tease. All those things end up being the result of something and gets her going because those are good qualities we seek as a specie. I totally understand the “Fake it ‘till you make it” approach, I just think knowing the reason might help a lot to understand all of this and go from “mechanical” technique learning to practical and natural interaction between humans.

MM is like others pointed out outdated. Dating advice matured and the focus on self-improvement. If you want to get good with girls check out Models by Mark Manson it will really open your ideas to new perspectives.

It's a good book to read, but it's just pop psychology and other ideas applied to dating, it's not a bible. Definitely don't use any lines from it verbatim. Note at least a third of it is basically "go out there and approach women". That's 99% of "the game". You'll find many girls aren't interested, maybe they're with friends, maybe they have a boyfriend, maybe they just don't like you, but some will be. A lot of the book is just confidence tricks for you to have something to say/not be afraid to approach for fear of running out of things to say. Honestly, if you end up talking to a girl at a bar/club, they know the deal; if they continue conversation with you, they're interested. Just ask her questions, be interested, and when there's a lull in conversation make a lot of eye contact, down to her mouth, make to eyes, she'll get the deal.
