So earlier today I was on the phone with a hookup-turned-pivot girl buddy of mine (GB) A few days earlier, GB had one of her friends from back home visit and she introduced us to her at the bar. Pivot's friend (PF) was cute but not my type so I wasnt interested. I got a weird vibe from her, a feeling that her friendliness when we met her was a bit fake. We hung out at the bar and had a good time but I didn't pursue PF or try to get her number or anything. This was probably two weeks ago.

So I'm on the phone with GB today and she mentions that PF was being a jerk to her the previous night and she doesn't know why she hangs out with her sometimes. I said "yea, I had a feeling she was like that when I met her". GB is impressed I was intuitive enough to pick up on that so I started faking it a bit. I said "I'm pretty good at reading people" and she begged me for more insights about PF.

I make a few guesses about what I expected her personality to be like and GB was treating me like I'm a fucking psychic. I said "(PF) SEEMS friendly when you meet her but I felt like her smile was a facade hiding her true personality. She seems like someone who's very neurotic and can get very angry over minor things" (all generalities that I guessed based on meeting her briefly and hearing a little about GB & PFs conflict).

GB is fucking amazed. She tells me "that's so true! I can't believe you got all that, you barely even talked to her". I downplayed it and told her its no big deal.

It clicks in my head at that moment that I just figured out what cold reading is all about. this is the same thing that fortune tellers and spirit mediums do. They say a little bit of what the listener wants to hear and throw in a bit of speculation based on how you know people typically act. this shit is DHV GOLD!!!!

Anybody have any great articles regarding cold reading and how to further develop this skill?
